November 2009

After the wedding things were kinda crazy. We had planned to spend a staycation weekend alone and even had Richard's parents watch Kassaundra. We planned to spend time in Boston and go to Fiddler on the Roof with the original Topol. Well things always have a crazy way of working out. We were able to get down to Boston and while we were down there we were informed that someone wanted to see the house. How convenient. So we traipsed back from Boston to spend the rest of the night cleaning only to go back to the hotel and crash. Can you think of a better way to spend a weekend? So we had the lovely task of cleaning everything up from the wedding that had just been dumped everywhere by whoever brought all the goodies and decorations home. I really appreciate everything everyone did for us while they were here, it would have been nice if they had at least stashed all the stuff out of sight. Oh well,

Back at the hotel we ordered out after a long day.

After all that chaos was over, and since we didn't have a honeymoon planned, we decided to go to MI to see my Grandpa Haas who wasn't able to come to the wedding because of his health. We also stopped and saw my Aunt Robin for a night and it was amazing. I love family, I love being around family, and I can't get enough of it. We didn't go anywhere after Aunt Robin's except straight to Grandma and Grandpa Haas' in Omer. I love it there more than anyone will ever realize. It is a special place for me and it is sad what my Grandpa has had to go through lately with his health. It was extra special for him that we came to spend time with him and we didn't have to split our attention elsewhere. I hardly get to spend time with him, but living only 12 hours away has been a real treat for me. Kassaundra is the first great-granddaughter and I am a favorite granddaughter so it works. Grandpa is a special guy who has seen a lot in his life and I love just sitting there and talking to him. I could do it for years on end if I had the time.

We didn't get to stay for as long as I would have hoped but I cherish every minute I get with family. On the drive back we stopped and bought Kogel Bologna and Kogel Olive loaf. Amazing stuff that you can't get anywhere but MI. We had Kogel Viennas in the freezer already so we didn't pick up any of those. We packed the cooler and we were on our way home. For some reason it always takes less time to get home than it does to get there. I have never made any sense of it. And it isn't by a few minutes either. It can be up to  two hours difference.

When we got home it was back to the grind of my call center job and Richard's banquet boy job at the Raddison. We had previously worked out a schedule so that we don't have to put Kassaundra in day care and she gets to be home with us. I have been contemplating taking her maybe one day a week so she can get interaction with other kids. It has to be so hard not getting much time with other kids. Anyway. November went by in a whirl. I don't remember to much of it. I got a Garmin for my birthday (which was after Boston, before Michigan) and then Thanksgiving was upon us. I had gone across the street to Currier Orchards and picked about 30+ lbs of apples. I am smart though and go the day after the winds come so I get fresh apples off the ground. I made cinnamon applesauce and took it with us to Richard's Grampy's house in Hillsborough, NH. I enjoy going up there. It is always so relaxing and fun. Once again, hanging out with family. I will never get enough of it.

Our assignment for Thanksgiving was celery, cream cheese and olives. And nuts. I almost forgot the nuts, but at the last minute I remember that I had a back of raw almonds. So we took those. I can't get enough of celery with cream cheese and olives though. Let me tell you. Amazing. I think I like any kind of cheese and olives though. Apparently I am not the only one though. I couldn't make them fast enough to keep them on the plate. Dinner was amazing as usual and afterwards everyone was in a food induced i have to keep my eyes open coma. Richard's dad broke out the ice cream maker and we had pie and ice cream. (Because we needed anything else right?)

The day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday!! WOO HOO!!!) I was lucky enough to have Richard come shopping with me. There were some great deals that we couldn't pass up. On stuff we needed of course, and probably some stuff we could have lived without but were such a good deal I couldn't say no. = \  So we got everything for Christmas that day and we were done. It was a great feeling. I don't know if Richard enjoys it as much as I do, but I love the thrill of the urban safari and looking to find that rare animal that you know is just hiding off in the brush and you are just so happy when you find it. Maybe he humors me because he knows how much joy I get out of it. It was a blast and we even took Kassaundra with us. The best part? After staying up all night to go shopping the next morning, I still had to go to work. How lame is that?!

November was a magical time and a blessing being able to spend so much of it with family. I am very blessed to have family all around me even when they live so far away they have a way to make me feel close. I love how accepting Richard's family is of Kassaundra and I and they just embraced us with open arms when Richard chose us. I have a lot to be thankful for and I know everyday how blessed I am to have found such a wonderful man and his great family to be a part of. Thank you Lord for bringing him into my life and preparing him for me. You knew what I would need and brought him to me at the perfect time.
